Welcome to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Porbandar: An Overview

Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Porbandar district was established at Khapat, Porbandar in the year 2005 under aegis of Junagadh Agricultural University Porbandar district comprises of the blokes viz Porbandar, Kutiyana and Ranavav. KVK previously known as farm science centre an innovative agricultural science bared institution established to expedite the extension of latest and innovative agricultural technologies to enhance the agricultural production in order to uplift the socio-economic status of farming community of the district. The centre is working to impart need base training, frontline demonstrations of latest technology/variety and on farm trials for improvement/modification in the technology. The ultimate goal of the centre is to conserve the resources of farm, reduce the input in agriculture and increases the net realization of farmers far better

The primary objective of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is to accelerate agricultural and allied production in the operational area, through the assessment, refinement, and demonstration of appropriate technologies.

Mandate of KVK

1. On-farm Testing: Testing agricultural technologies to identify their location-specific adaptability.

2. Frontline Demonstrations: Conducting demonstrations to quickly show the benefits of new agricultural practices and technologies.

3. Training: Providing training to farmers, rural youth, and extension personnel on improved agricultural technologies.

4. Advisory Services: Offering advisory services to farmers to solve field-level problems and improve productivity.

5. Resource Centre: Acting as a resource centre for agricultural knowledge and techniques.

KVKs aim to bridge the gap between research institutions and farmers, ensuring that the latest advancements in agricultural research reach the grassroots level.

Mission: Expedite the adoption of innovative and location specific agricultural technologies and the capacity building among the people engaged in agriculture and allied sector.
